Pura Besakih
Pura Besakih is a complex of temples that is located on the slopes of Mt. Agung in the eastern part of Bali. This landmark is the most important place on the island as it is the largest and most religiously significant temple for Balinese Hinduism. Sitting at an elevation of 1000 meters this complex of 18 separate temples, at least 70 different celebrations are held at this temple annually. The views from the temple are awe inspiring especially when combined with the spiritual tranquility that resides there.
Penglipuran Village
Located in the stunning highlands of Bali, Penglipuran Village. Well known for its historic layout and preserved culture. The grounds, covered by neatly manicured gardens, a single stone paved pathway that runs straight through the center of the village leading towards the local temple. Throughout the years, Penglinpuran has slowly evolved into community based tourism destination in order to amplify the local economy of the village. Visitors can take guided tours and learn about the history, culture and art prominent there.
Tirta Empul
Tirta Empul is an important temple complex and holy mountain spring, located in the village of Manukaya in central Bali. This site serves as a legendary setting of a traditional tale about good versus evil. It is also a national cultural heritage site. The springs feeds various purification baths, pools and fishponds surrounding the outer perimeter, which all flow to the Tukad Pekerisan River. Various sites throughout the region and many archaeological relics relate to local myths and legend.
