Situated in an open valley, Moni is the gateway to Kelimutu and its three colored lakes. It is a a slow and easygoing place with a weekly market for the surrounding villages. The village is surrounded by coffee-plantation, coconut palms and more dens vegetation.

In the center of the village, located behind Bintang Restaurant there is the newly built, white Bintang Lodge. Our rooms have kingsize beds, fan, toilet, shower and hot water. The roommate includes a choice of breakfast, free internet and all taxes.

Kelimutu Ecolodge (Superior / Deluxe Level)

Kelimutu Crater Lakes Ecolodge is powered by solar energy and is set in valley beside a burbling river with excellent views of Kelimutu, near the village of Moni in Eastern Flores. This unique lodge, built by Meryl Wilson and Putu Febri, provides an ideal haven of peace for the trans Flores traveler.

This lodge is an Eco lodge because we attempt to protect the environment by various means. All water is re cycled through 3 water –garden systems to prevent pollution of the river and to irrigate the garden. The bathrooms are supplied with either solar hot water or gas water heaters, where it is too shaded for solar. Water is pumped from the river to a settling tank , then up the hill, by electricity. Drinking water comes from a U.V. purifier. All our staff are local villagers with our Manager who lives in Maumere.

We have a system of solar panels , storage batteries and inverters which blend solar power with the small amount of local electricity available. Please be careful! We recycle, reuse and as a last resort send to Maumeres dump. Our kitchen waste is composted or given to pigs.

We provide clean, comfortable accommodation extremely suitable to the environment.

Riung

Pondok SVD (Standard / Superior / Deluxe Level)

Total all rooms : 22 rooms. The Pondok SVD is a guest house built by a Catholic Priest, a member of the Society of Divine Word (SVD stands for Societies Verbi Divini), for internal purposes. Later on, it began to be patronized by foreign visitors who wanted a much better accommodation in comparison to the already available homestays in Riung.

Bajawa

Happy-Happy Hotel (Standard Level)

Hotel happy happy is a new small hotel near the entrance and the center of Bajawa who opened his door in september 2011 with 6 rooms available. Happy happy is run by a dutch couple and local staff. The owners and their staff will escort you while you stay in happy happy. Service is for them number one. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is just next to the gate of the old town of Bajawa and with only six rooms available you will feel home staying with the families. The breakfast they serve is unique for this part of Flores. Homemade bread, juice fruits and an excellent pot of coffee or tea. It keeps you going for most of the day.

Day 01 : Arrival Bali – Sanur

Upon Arrival Bali, you will be transferred to your hotel in
Sanur, close to Ngurah Rai Airport.

Day 02 : Bali - Flight to Ende - Moni

Morning depart from your hotel in Tuban to Denpasar Airport for flight to Ende. Upon arrival Ende, our driver will meet you and drive up to Moni. Moni is located on the foothills of the Kelimutu volcano. Rice fields are surrounding this small farming village. Tradition plays an important role in modern life on Flores. Signs of this can be found in the traditional villages in the region. If the time permit you may visit Kowanara village famous for its traditional Lionese houses, stone seats and traditional sacred cemetery.

Day 03 : Moni – Kelimutu Sunrise Tour, Transfer to Riung

Early morning, wake up call for departure to the Kelimutu volcano. A short walk (30 minutes) will take you to the look-out point to wait for the sunrise. Kelimutu means Mountain of the Spirits. Known for its famous 3 color lakes: Turquoise, Brown and Black. It’s the dissolved minerals that give the different colors and these are still changing. Continue transfer to Riung. Riung is a small fishing village on the northern coast of the Ngada district. It is the starting point for trips to the Seventeen Islands Marine Park, famous for its fantastic coral gardens.

Day 04 : Riung Boat Trip - Excursion to 17 Island

Enjoy a full day of island hopping around Riung’s 17 pristine islands National Park – a chain of Large and Small uninhabited islands. A short walk from the hotel to the harbor of Riung. Depart by local boat to watch the thousands flying fog at Ontoloe Island. Continue to a nice spot for swimming and snorkeling (equipment provided). There is a great variety of fish and coral to be explored. Relax on a white sandy beach of Tiga and Rutong island where a BBQ lunch will be served. Return to the harbor after which you can make your way back to the hotel.

Day 05 : Riung – Soa Hotspring – Bajawa

depart from Riung to Bajawa. Bajawa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Flores, surrounded by lush slopes and striking volcanoes.

Day 06 : Bajawa Tour

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, a local guide will pick you up to start a hike through traditional villages along the foot of the Inerie Volcano. You will have an opportunity to visit Bena with megalithic stones, offering and meetings places where the head of the villages decisions are still made that influences their relations with the supernatural. The traditional houses of Bena have steep high roofs of grass. Some have been rewarded with the image of a warrior with a spear, other are represented by a woman, showing who lives in the house.

Day 07 : Bajawa - Ruteng

From Bajawa it is a few hour drives to the town of Ruteng. This is a small, Catholic city with a lively store and market district. The town is on a higher altitude resulting in a cool and pleasant climate. The city is also the centre of the local Manggarai- minority. Arrival Ruteng, check in to your hotel for overnight. A unique accommodation as you will stay with some of the local nuns.

Day 08 : Ruteng - Labuan Bajo, visit Old Ruteng and Spider Webs Cancar

After Breakfast at the hotel, you will have a transfer from Ruteng to Labuan Bajo. On the way, you will visit old Ruteng where you can see how people still live in a traditional way. Next stop is Cancar, from a hilltop you will have an excellent view of the spider web shaped rice fields.
Labuhan Bajo is Flores’ most westerly point, where the bay is filled with the candy-stripped sails of outrigger fishing boats and encircled by bougainvillea-festooned houses.

Day 09 : Labuan Bajo - Boat to Rinca - Komodo

Morning depart from your hotel in Labuan Bajo and transferred to the harbor to catch a wooden motorized boat leaving for Rinca for approximately 2,5 hours you will reach on the island of Rinca. Afterward doing round trek to explore Rinca Island to see komodo dragon on their natural habitat. Komodo Dragon is a Giant monitor Lizards on earth which is 90 kg weight, and more than 3 meter its length. Rinca Island is also home for wild water Buffaloes, Timor deer, long tail macaques, wild pig, and sometimes is wild horse.

Keep your eyes up to the trees, if you are lucky sometimes you will small dragon on the trees to protect themselves from adult dragon. After trekking for about 2,5 hours, you will get back to the boat to sail to Komodo Island will take for 2,5 over the blue sea, afterward you will arrive at Pink Beach for explorer the underwater life, snorkeling and swimming Lunch will be served on the boat. Afternoon continue to Komodo Village to see how the way of life the people from dragon princes island. Dinner & Overnight are also on the boat at Komodo island.

Day 10 : Komodo - Rinca Trip - Sape - Bima

After having breakfast on the boat, then trekking to explore the island of Komodo. Along your trekking you will be entertained by beautiful concert of many kind of the birds. This island of Komodo is also home for Timor deer, Wild board and also good for Bird watching. After having trek for 2 will get back to the boat and direct sailing to spectacular white sandy beach Of Pantai Merah for snorkeling, swimming and relaxing. Afterward depart to
Sape. Lunch will be served on boat. Arrive in Sape then transfer directly to your hotel in Bima

Day 11 : Bima - Sumbawa Besar

A long but beautiful ride takes you along volcanic mountain slopes and plains with rice fields to Sumbawa Besar. On the way we stop, for example, with salted salt pans, extracted from sea water and in Labuhan Jambu, a very special and photogenic fishing village on the north coast of Sumbawa. At the end of the afternoon you arrive in Sumbawa Besar, the capital of Sumbawa.
Here you stay in a beautiful exotic cottage, consisting of bungalows on poles. This beachfront hotel is where you can snorkel.

Day 13 : Sumbawa Besar – Flight to Tambolaka – West Sumba

Early morning depart from your hotel to Sumbawa Besar Airport for flight to Tambolaka. Upon arrival at Tambolaka Airport / West Sumba, you will be transferred to Hotel (Mananadang) or similar. Afternoon Visit: Prai Ijing, Tarong, Waitabar Village near by Waikabubak, down to Local market of Waikabubak, then return to hotel.

Note : Flight from Sumbawa Besar to Tambolaka is available in Blacklisted flight.

Day 14 : Waikabubak - Kodi Full Day Tour

Today you will have full day tour to Kodi Area. Visit Tosi Village, Parona baroro Village, Rotenggaro Village and Ranggabaki Village. All the houses are very high roof more than ten meters high. Afternoon return to Hotel via Waitabula which along the way back to hotel we witness the Coffee plantation.

Day 15 : Waikabubak – Wanukaka – Lamboya

After breakfast at hotel, trip to Wanukaka for visiting Waigali Village to See the Andung (Scoultree); Praigoli Village to See the kajiwa Stone and Pasola Field, then return to Marosi Beach. On the way stop at Waiwuang Village, and Wuntalaka village which in this area the traditional houses are on the hilltop.

Day 16 : Waikabubak – Prailiang – Waingapu

After breakfast at hotel, drive to East Sumba via Mamboro – lenang – Cave Sasar. This trip will show the fantastic view of savanna and ocean with Flores Island as a background. We follow north of Sumba road (Pantura), arrival at Prailiang village which is set at top of hill overlooking the valley and river. After walking around
300 meters, pass through the spirit gate, and see stunning local style houses. This village is not specially set up for tourists – this is the way these people live their daily lives. Afternoon transfer to the hotel for overnight.

Day 17 : Waingapu – Melo – Rende

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Melolo to see the traditional village of Pau Dan Rende Village to see the royal tomb made from the megalithic stone, and the houses where one of the wall construction made from the Buffalo skin. Afternoon drive back to Hotel for overnight.
