Discover what it truly means to live like a local Balinese through this unique and immersive village adventure!
Your day begins at a traditional Balinese family compound, where your local host will introduce you to the rhythm of daily village life. From here, you’ll set off on foot toward the riverside, passing through lush rice fields and vibrant tropical greenery.
The river you’ll explore is fed by a chain of eleven natural springs, and during your walk, you’ll visit two of them. Along the way, you’ll see the Subak irrigation system in action an ancient water management system that keeps Bali’s rice terraces thriving. You’ll also meet friendly farmers at work and see first-hand how the Balinese live in harmony with nature.
As the walk continues, enjoy a refreshing break at the cool springs, perfect for cooling down after exploring. At the final spring, you’re welcome to take a dip and relax in the clear mountain water.
Then comes the highlight of your journey, the Jungle Cooking experience! Using fresh, natural ingredients gathered from the surrounding forest and river such as local vegetables, herbs, and freshly caught fish or shrimp you’ll cook together with your hosts over a traditional wood-fired stove.
Finally, enjoy your homemade Balinese lunch beside the river, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the jungle a moment that perfectly captures the heart of Bali’s village life.
Spiritual Tour
Today you will see the spiritual sight of Bali in depth. The tour will start with creating an offering, called Canang in Bali. This offering will be brought to the temples to ask permission from the gods to enter the temple.
The guide will explain about the offering and the way of making the prayer before you will take the holy bath to purify yourself.
At Gunung Kawi, you will see the beautiful rice fields and the carved façade dating back to the 11th century. They are called the Kings tombs, commemorating the Udayana Kingdom. The guide will lead you on small rice field paths surrounding the complex.
At Tirta Empul, the guide will take you around the temple with 14 Holy water spouts for purification.
Back to the Foundation, you will be served lunch in the Yayasan café which is run by young people with special needs.
