Itinerary

Jungle trek is about 6 hours into the Gunung Leuser National Park searching for orangutans and other Sumatra wildlife. The trek is not always flat but involves some hikes up and down. A bit hard but in return, you get a very nice experience. You have big chances to see gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatra peacocks, and hornbills. Wild and semi-wild orangutans might cross your way. However, as with any wildlife, no guarantees can be made that they are all around this area during your visit. Your guide will explain to you many things about the rainforest. And he will show you many different kinds of plants and flowers. Simple packed lunch on trails. You camp in a peaceful place in the park near the river. Take a refreshing dip in the river whilst your guide prepares your jungle dinner.

In the morning you might be wake up by the magical sound of the jungle. Breakfast at campsite. Continue trekking 6-7 hours with some ascends and descends and stopping regularly for viewpoints. You will walk downhill to the waterfall. Packed lunch provided on trails. Camping at another peaceful place in the jungle next to the hot spring. Take a warm shower in the hot spring whilst the guide builds the camp.

Note: Those who want to get more chances to see Sumatra wildlife can take another route (a route that brings you deeper in the park), but no sighting of the waterfall. You can discuss it with a guide before the trekking starts.

Breakfast at the camp. Today is the final trek of your rainforest adventure. You still walk about 6-7 hours in the park searching for tropical flora and fauna. Then return to Ketambe overnight.
