Responsible Tourism

Delivering authentic experiences through ethical practices, community collaboration, and long-term commitment to sustainability across all destinations we serve.
Taking care of our destinations and the people who call these places home is at the heart of the meaningful experiences we create. Part of our Communities

We believe meaningful travel starts with strong relationships. That’s why we work hand in hand with local communities, respecting their traditions, cultures, and ways of life. Through community-based experiences, we ensure tourism directly supports local livelihoods, preserves heritage, and creates genuine connections between travelers and the people they meet. By involving communities as active partners, we help build sustainable, inclusive, and positive impacts that last well beyond each journey.

Respect for our communities

We welcome all travelers to our destinations and promote tourism with a focus on tolerance and respect for the diversity of beliefs and way of lives within the communities we operate in. Furthermore, we observe the social and cultural traditions and practices, including those of minorities and indigenous people. Our tourism activities are conducted in harmony and collaboration with the communities, and in respect for the local laws, traditions, and customs.

Community based experiences

With sustainable and responsible tourism at our core, we pride ourselves in offering unique community-based experiences. These experiences aim to assist communities to benefit from tourism, whilst allowing travelers to interact and learn about these unique places. Independently audited by Travelife, we ensure that these experiences benefit the community, generate local employment, are plastic free and carbon neutral! From planning to execution, every journey is guided by sustainability principles that aim to deliver long-term benefits for destinations, travelers, and future generations.

Collaborating with Partners to Drive Sustainable Tourism

We believe sustainable tourism is built through collaboration. By working with our supply chain, governments, NGOs, and global initiatives, we promote responsible practices, share knowledge, and create lasting environmental and social impact across our destinations.

Sustainable and responsible tourism is a shared responsibility. We work closely with our supply chain, government bodies, and NGOs, and in Indonesia we are a founding member of the Indonesian DMC Sustainability Collaboration, actively supporting training programs, loan initiatives, and CSR actions across our destinations, to strengthen long-term sustainability and community resilience.

Happy Trails! Asia is a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, committing to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach Net Zero before 2050. Through this commitment, we lead by example, share knowledge, support collaboration across the sector, and raise awareness of the urgent need for climate action in tourism.

Giving Back - CSR

As part of our commitment to the communities we operate in, we have an extensive corporate social responsibility program (CSR).

We believe it is important to give back and collaborate with our communities, to help them to develop in a positive way. Therefore, our CSR program focuses on the below pillars:

Environmental protection

Our projects focus on environmental protection, with a special attention to waste and water management and the provision of clean water.

Child protection and education

We believe children are the future of our communities, therefore we support programs which focus on their education and protection.

Better living conditions

In many indigenous communities we visit, facilities such as clean water and sanitation may be limited. We support the development of services.

Our Projects

Our projects support local communities and sustainable initiatives, creating positive social and environmental impact across our destinations.
